In this video I show how I go about building a cheap and easy meat smoker. I use these units to smoke and dry jerky, chops or fish.
If a colder smoke is desired then one can build an external fire box or use an old wood stove and pipe the smoke into the bottom of the smoker.
Total cost for me on this build was about 20 cents in screws. Everything else used was gathered at zero cost during my travels, Although the burner was given to me, anyone can find a side burner off of a scrap BBQ, the ready rod can be sourced at used building supply stores or commercial demos and the oven racks come from the local recycle depot. The thermometer is one I use in another smoker and has been recycled through my last three smokers over the years. Even the shingles were left overs from a friends roof.
It pays to be frugal!
