Big Green Eggs make great smokers. With the right settings and a diverter plate, you can turn any Big Green Egg into a smoker.

You will start a fire in your Big Green Egg just like usually, Once the fire is hot you will spread it around and add a few chunks of your favorite type of wood.

Once the fire is right and the wood is in, it’s time to place the diverter plate in the Big Green Egg, close the lid and set the vents.

On the Big Green Egg top daisy wheel, close it completely and then move it to open about 1/4 of the way. On the BGE bottom vent, leave it around 1/2 to 1 inch open.

Give your smoker time to stabilize and allow your temps to steady before putting any meat on the Big Green Egg. But once your temps have stabilized, you are ready to do some low and slow smoking on your BGE.
