In this video, I start building an outdoor kitchen for a Big Green Egg Large BBQ. When completed it will have an extendable surface on both sides, 2 drawers, 2 cabinets, a special drawer with a ceramic tile to store hot accessories from the BBQ, and on top of all that is portable!
Since this project is fairly complex and it took me quite a while to build I decided to split the project into two videos. In this first video, I will focus on the support structure of the kitchen. I’m using 18mm (3/4″) exterior grade plywood for this. The construction method doesn’t require any complicated joinery. I use rebates and lamination to achieve a strong, solid frame. This also has an advantage in the amount of material that is required for the project.
When the frame is completed I also show you how I make and attach the slides, drawers, and the special drawer for the hot accessories. The drawers are made from 10mm (1/2″) not 18mm (3/4).
The rest of the project is shown in part 2 of this series.
(When done, it will be linked here.)
