GRILLED MUSSELS RECIPE
Start by picking up some fresh mussels. You may want to check with your local grocer to see what days of the week seafood is delivered. Once purchased, be sure to keep them chilled until ready to cook.
On a gas grill, light all burners on high, close lid and let grill get hot. If using a charcoal grill, light a charcoal chimney loaded with charcoal. When charcoal is lit and ready to go, add to your grill, cover and let it come up to temp. You’re shooting for 350-400 degrees or more.
When the grill is nice and hot, add your mussels. Cover and let cook until all the mussels have opened up. Depending on how hot your grill is, this may only take a few minutes, so don’t go anywhere! Check after a couple minutes have gone by to see how the mussels are doing. Once they have all opened up, they are ready to eat. If you find some that have not opened, dispose of them – they are not safe to eat.
Melt some butter, add some garlic, lemon, or any of your favorite seasoning, and dip mussels as you eat. Enjoy!
