I spent some good change on a Lodge Sportsman Grill – Cast Iron Hibachi and liked it very much. However, I thought I could come up with a better way to be slightly cheaper by salvaging an old grill which I call a gas stove.

The previous owner left his rusted rejected outdoor gas stove on the balcony. I saw it as an opportunity to convert it to a wood/charcoal burning grill to cook some of our weekly meals. So far so good thus far. Not perfect but free with time and effort.

I added the Stuffed Poblano Peppers to the video as a test meal to see how the grill could perform considering it was built for gas not wood. I still have to make some adjustments such as adding a smoke stack and thermometer (I say thermostat in video, goofy me)… Not to mention a damper. It was hard to gauge temperature but I made the best effort with mouth watering results.

I thought I’d share this experience with you and truly hope you enjoy it. It is a long video but I am not an expert editor. I will eventually get better as time passes on with more videos. Nevertheless, you can stop video when you want to stop it or you could watch the whole video, which you’re crazy if you do. Lol!

Extra Notes: So I’m not sure if people even will read this description but there are a few points I would like to make about the videos. And they are as follow:

• It may sound like I repeat myself on certain subjects. I am aware of that, however I wasn’t sure if the videos would be broken up.
• The videos were long but I thought I have a video left for my girls cooking with their daddy – you know just in case I kick the bucket, they have a video diary of this evening together.
• I am not a chef or claim to be one. I am not trying to get my own cooking channel. I am just a regular guy hanging out with the family trying to save money in this economy.
• Yes, it looks like I may cut my fingers off at any time. LOL! My wife made me aware of her fear.
• While I am cutting the onions, I do something instinctively without me catching it at the time. Let’s see if you catch my blunder. Hehe… I was mad when I saw it on video.
• On the back of my hand is probably grease from the handling of the grill.
• The ceramic tile like is what they use on the building itself to look like brick.
• The grill is a old rusted Brickmann Outdoor Cooking Grill:
• I am using Match Light, Mesquite Wood and Wood Chips.
• That is lemonade I am drinking – wink;)
• The whole day of cleaning grill to prepping food to cooking to clean-up from beginning to end (including washing dishes took like 4 hours) – but trust me it was worth it.
• Yes I am in a fat suit. LOL!
• My girls are four and ten. Trying to teach them how to cook. May not be perfect but you get the gist of it.
• We live on a commercial property. My wife is an on-site property manager for a storage facility in Texas.
• I hope you enjoy these long videos. You might be better off watching paint dry, but the paint won’t talk back to ya. Think about how strange it is to talk out loud and have my family think it is now okay. Haha. Weird we are.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or your thoughts in general.

Next video I will cook Mahi-Mahi, Crab Legs, Mushrooms, Zucchini, Bake Potatoes, with Biscuits and Fried Clam Strips all under $39.

Thanks again.
