The Char-Griller smoker grill that I purchased from Lowes a few years ago was an excellent investment! Although the cover that came with the grill did not hold up well, the grill itself is in excellent shape, even with a little rust! I’ve owned this grill for over a few years now and cook on it at least a few times per week. I did purchase the optional side box, which is a must for serious smokers. I usually put hickory chips in the side box and smoke with indirect heat when I do ribs, chicken, pork chops, etc. When I grill steaks, I just add charcoal to the main compartment within the grill and cook steak directly over the coals. I could not be happier with my purchase of this grill! It smokes great tasting-meat and I believe that it would be hard to match the performance with a Green Egg or similar ceramic grill. The Char-Griller professional also has a very large cooking area and an upper rack too. The side box itself can even be used as a grill as well. This grill is a necessity for any serious BBQ chef!
