Today we are making Beer Can Chicken in the Masterbuilt Electric Smoker with Lemon Pepper Seasoning & Alabama White Sauce. This smoked beer can chicken recipe is simple and easy. Make it in the Masterbuilt or any other smoker.
Ingredients
• 1 chicken
• 2 tablespoons Kosher salt
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 3-4 tablespoons Tennessee Whiskey Lemon Pepper BBQ seasoning
• ½ to 1 teaspoon olive oil
• 1 Modelo Negra Dark Beer at room temperature
• Optional: Doc and Artie’s Alabama White Sauce
Recipe Instructions
1. Dry the chicken with paper towels.
2. Mix the salt and baking powder together, then apply to the skin of the chicken. Place in the refrigerator overnight. I did not plan ahead and only dry-brined for 2 hours.
3. The next day remove the chicken from the refrigerator and using a paper towel remove any excess salt from the chicken.
4. Apply the olive oil and then sprinkle with the Lemon Pepper seasoning.
5. Optional – Using foil, wrap the wing temps to prevent them from burning during the cooking process.
6. Place the chicken on ½ can of the beer and then place in the Masterbuilt Smoker at 275 degrees F along with some of your favorite wood chips. I used maple wood chips.
7. Add wood chips 2-3 times for the first 70 minutes.
8. Cook until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F in the thickest part of the breast. This cook 2 hours and 20 minutes.
9. Remove from the smoker, let rest 20 minutes and remove from the beer can. Use CAUTION as the beer can will be hot.
10. Serve!
